Astro Smarty respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal data transparently and responsibly.

This Privacy Policy explains what information may be processed when you use Astro Smarty, why it is processed, how it is handled, and what rights you have in relation to your personal data.

3. Information We Process

Account and authentication information

If you create an account or sign in to Astro Smarty, authentication is provided through Clerk.

Depending on the sign-in method you choose, authentication data may include information such as:

• your email address;
• your name or profile information where provided;
• authentication provider information;
• account and user identifiers;
• session and authentication information.

If you choose to sign in with Google, information required for authentication may also be exchanged between Google and Clerk according to the permissions presented during the sign-in process.

Astro Smarty itself currently does not maintain a separate database containing your Clerk profile information.

Clerk uses cookies and session tokens required to operate sign-in and authenticated sessions.

Astrology and chart information

When using Astro Smarty's astrology tools, you may enter information including:

• date;
• time;
• city;
• country.

Your city and country search is sent to the Open-Meteo Geocoding API so that Astro Smarty can determine the corresponding geographic coordinates and timezone.

The resulting date, time and geographic coordinates are then processed by Astro Smarty to calculate the requested astrological information.

At present:

• Astro Smarty does not maintain a database of your astrology inputs;
• astrology inputs are not intentionally saved to your account;
• astrology inputs are processed primarily for the purpose of generating the requested calculation;
• Astro Smarty does not currently provide saved natal charts or permanent chart storage.

Standard technical server or hosting logs may nevertheless temporarily contain request information as part of operating and securing the service.

4. Why We Process Information

Information is processed where necessary to:

• provide Astro Smarty and its astrology calculation features;
• create and maintain user authentication sessions;
• allow users to sign in and access account-related functionality;
• convert location searches into geographic coordinates;
• maintain the security, reliability and technical operation of the website;
• prevent misuse or technical abuse;
• comply with applicable legal obligations.

Where applicable, processing is based on the performance of a service requested by you, legitimate interests in operating and securing Astro Smarty, or compliance with legal obligations.

5. Third-Party Services

Astro Smarty currently uses certain third-party services required to operate the website.

These may include:

Clerk — user authentication and session management.

Google — Google authentication when you choose Google Sign-In.

Vercel — hosting and delivery of the Astro Smarty website and server functionality.

Open-Meteo — location/geocoding searches.

Google Fonts — delivery of fonts used by the interface.

unpkg and jsDelivr — delivery of software resources required by parts of the application.

NASA Scientific Visualization Studio (SVS) — delivery of Moon imagery used within Astro Smarty.

When your browser communicates directly with an external service, that provider may receive standard technical request information such as your IP address and browser/request information.

Astro Smarty does not currently use third-party analytics, advertising networks, behavioural advertising or marketing tracking services.

6. Cookies

Astro Smarty currently uses cookies required for authentication and session functionality through Clerk.

These cookies are used to:

• keep users signed in;
• authenticate sessions;
• provide secure account functionality.

Astro Smarty currently does not use analytics, advertising or marketing cookies.

If this changes in the future, this Privacy Policy and, where legally required, the cookie consent mechanism will be updated before such technologies are introduced.

7. Data Storage and Retention

Astro Smarty currently does not permanently store astrology calculation inputs in its own database.

Authentication information is processed and stored through Clerk according to the operation of the account and authentication service.

Technical information may also be temporarily retained by hosting or infrastructure providers where necessary for security, diagnostics, reliability or legal compliance.

Personal data will not knowingly be retained longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was processed or where retention is required by applicable law.

8. International Data Transfers

Some of the service providers used by Astro Smarty may process information outside the European Economic Area.

Where personal data is transferred internationally, applicable providers are expected to use legally recognised safeguards where required, such as adequacy mechanisms or Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Your Data Protection Rights

Subject to applicable data protection law, you may have the right to:

• request access to your personal data;
• request correction of inaccurate data;
• request deletion of your personal data;
• request restriction of processing;
• object to certain processing;
• request portability of eligible personal data;

Under the GDPR, individuals also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

In Slovenia, the supervisory authority is the Information Commissioner of the Republic of Slovenia.

Astro Smarty may need to verify that the request relates to your account before carrying it out.

Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect the service and personal information processed through it.

However, no online service or method of electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Astro Smarty may update this Privacy Policy as the application develops, particularly when new functionality, storage systems, analytics tools or other services are introduced.

The date at the top of this page will indicate when the Privacy Policy was last updated.
